How the result is formed
The guided check records what you see on static black, white, red, green, and blue screens. The site compares your answers with common signs of stuck pixels, dead pixels, dust, uneven brightness, and software problems. The result is based on your answers, not automated visual inspection.
Exactly what the browser displays
The core check uses the following CSS sRGB inputs. Each test fills the available color view with one solid value; you change colors manually. These values describe the requested browser image, not measured light output from the panel.

The gray and 50% gray fields both use #808080; the 5% gray field uses #0d0d0d. Those percentages approximate encoded RGB channel levels, not percentages of physical screen luminance. The gradient goes from #000000 to #ffffff.
Browser and display limits
- A page cannot read your physical pixels. You must inspect and report the observations.
- Color profiles, HDR, night modes, accessibility filters, panel processing and the input signal can change the displayed result. Browser black is not a measurement of a panel’s black level.
- Browser zoom, operating-system scaling and subpixel layouts affect apparent detail. A CSS coordinate or diagram is not a count of physical defective subpixels.
- Fullscreen depends on the browser and device. Browser bars, system indicators or camera cutouts can obscure an edge; rotate and repeat where helpful.
- A negative screenshot check does not exclude a cable, input or display-processing problem. Confirm with the display’s own diagnostic when available.
How observations become a result
The guided check uses a fixed rule order. It does not use a camera model, a trained diagnostic model or a measured probability of repair.
- A mark captured in a screenshot viewed on another screen takes priority and routes to the app, cable and input checks.
- A fuzzy or irregular mark on white points toward dust or debris. If it has not been cleaned, the tool expresses more uncertainty.
- A patch or haze on black points toward a broad brightness or uniformity issue.
- A bright point on black that remains lit or changes across RGB points toward a bright or stuck pixel.
- A dark point on white without a glow on black, or a point dark on a primary color without being bright on black, points toward a dark or dead pixel.
- Other combinations remain inconclusive. Missing observations are not treated as proof that the screen passed.
The displayed confidence labels describe how closely the entered answers match those rules. They are not measured accuracy percentages. Return timing changes the recommended next action, not the physical diagnosis. See illustrative rule examples.

Manufacturer links support the definitions or device-specific guidance next to them; they do not imply endorsement. Our observation tables, example cases, test order and evidence checklist are our own explanatory work.
A page’s review date means its displayed guidance and cited sources were checked on that date. It does not mean a manufacturer reviewed this site, that hardware testing proved a success rate, or that every other page was reviewed at the same time. Short inspection timings are practical suggestions for keeping the check brief, not manufacturer diagnostic thresholds.
What it cannot do
- See a physical pixel, inspect a photo, or guarantee a diagnosis.
- Repair a transistor or guarantee that changing colors will help.
- Promise warranty eligibility or keep manufacturer policy details current forever.
- Replace manufacturer tests, professional service, or accessibility or medical advice.
How we choose sources
We prefer current official pages for pixel definitions, built-in tests, warranty information, and OLED maintenance. Third-party utilities are useful product references but not authorities on coverage or safety.
